I experienced workplace issues at a major Japanese corporation that made it difficult to continue working in the Japanese domestic job market.
Without going into excessive detail: I became a target of what could be described as systematic workplace harassment after raising concerns about certain practices. This experience taught me that the Japanese corporate environment can be challenging for those who speak up.
⚠️ A Note on Japanese Corporate Culture
If you're considering hiring me and want to know more details, I'm happy to discuss privately. I believe in transparency, but I also believe some things are better explained in conversation than in public documents. Be prepared for a glimpse into some challenging aspects of Japanese corporate culture.
📝 Communication Preference
I work best through async text communication — Slack, email, GitHub. This is a deliberate choice that allows me to deliver clear documentation, well-commented code, and thoughtful responses. Many of the world's best engineering teams already operate async-first.
